Anxiety prevention and self esteem programs

Courageous Kids

Kids First is proud to offer Courageous Kids, a program that that helps children to cope with feelings of fear, worry and depression by building resilience and self-esteem.

Courageous Kids is best suited to children aged 8-10 and is led by an experienced Child Psychologist.

This 10 week program focuses on giving kids a more positive outlook and a confident future by teaching children to identify their feelings and problem solve through challenging situations.

Each week, small groups of children meet for Courageous Kids'  fun and supportive one hour sessions which help them to develop simple and effective strategies to deal with anxiety, stress and change.

Games, role plays, discussions and other engaging activities are all part of the fun and interactive program where children are guided towards improved self-esteem, problem solving, self-expression and relationships with peers and adults

Parents are invited to attend the last ten minutes of each Courageous Kids session so that ideas and strategies for home and school can be shared. Detailed resources for children and families are provided each week and a 30 minute consultation with the Child Psychologist is included half way through the term so that parents can discuss their child's specific challenges and progress in private.

What do children think of Courageous Kids?

'Thank you for making me so much more confident and helping me to realise that if I get a headache it doesn't mean that I'm sick, it may just mean that I'm worried about something. Now I feel so cofident and brave and my teacher has seen a huge improvement'

Evie, aged 9
