Helping Children with Autism
by Sonja Walker
Kids First is committed to supporting all children and their families.
That is why we are so proud to announce that we have been selected by the Federal Government to provide specialised support to children aged 0-6 under a new initiative called Helping Children with Autism.
This initiative provides affected families with funding so that they can access early intervention and therapy for their special children. In order to be accredited for this program, Kids First demonstrated that its services are of the highest calibre and meet stringent selection criteria.
Occupational Therapist Kristie Kha, Speech Pathologist Carissa Louwen and Educational Psychologist, Karen Spitzer are children's health specialists and support kids of all ages and abilities.
In addition to their existing services, this new program will provide multi-disciplinary support to many children for whom early intervention is so important.
All Kids First health professionals have significant experience with children on the Autism Spectrum and our team works with children and families to support and enhance children's development.
Appointments are now available for families with or without Helping Children with Autism funding and waiting times for therapy and other support services are currently short.
We welcome our new and special children to Kids First!
**Kids First Children's Services is a listed service provider for the Early Intervention Service Provider Panel, for the Helping Children with Autism package funded by the Australian Government through the Departments of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA).
