Helping Kids with Autism
Kids First specialises in supporting children with Autism. In fact, our multi-disciplinary team has been selected by the Australian Government’s Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) as a Best Practice provider of early intervention through the Helping Children with Autism (HCWA) initiative.
At Kids First, your child can utilise FaHCSIA funding for both individual and small group services.
Since 2009, more than 100 children with ASD and PDD-NOS have benefited from the support of Kids First’s talented multi-disciplinary team of:
- Speech pathologists
- Occupational therapists,
- Psychologists
- Teachers
who provide evidence based early intervention that improves children’s cognitive, emotional and social development prior to starting school.
At Kids First, your child can utilise FaHCSIA funding for both individual and small group services.
To be eligible for HCWA funding your child must have been seen by an Autism Advisor and deemed eligible to access the program before their sixth birthday. A total of $12,000 in funding is available for early intervention and can be used until your child’s seventh birthday. $6,000 is the maximum amount that is available for use per financial year.
