Children’s Clinical Nutritionist

Children’s dietary and nutritional needs can have a significant impact on their development and learning.

While a child can be the healthiest of eaters, if their digestive system is not working properly and nutrients are not being absorbed effectively, their body may not function at its best.

Many children respond very quickly to changes in their diet, which can also bring about rapid improvements, not only to their physical and emotional health, but also to their behaviour.

How can a Clinical Nutritionist help my child?

A children’s Clinical Nutritionist helps children and families to overcome the challenges of:

  • Suspected food allergies and intolerances
  • Blood sugar control
  • Weight gain and weight loss
  • Digestive problems – diarrhoea, constipation, bloating/discomfort, IBS, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis
  • Behavioural problems and ADHD
  • Autism and Aspergers Syndrome
  • Skin conditions – acne, eczema, dermatitis
  • Fussy eating
  • Weaning

Kids First’s children’s Clinical Nutritionist, Anna Lynch, has many years of experience in clinical practice. She has successfully worked with a wide range of children, including those with special needs.

Anna helps families to plan and manage their children’s nutritional needs so that children can grow and learn easily and effectively.

She supports children who, as a result of nutrient deficiencies or improper digestion, nutrient absorption and assimilation, may find it difficult to regulate their moods and emotions.

Anna also has vast experience supporting children with sensory processing issues and challenges like Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Aspergers Syndrome and other disabilities.

She specialises in helping families to manage the needs of fussy eaters, supporting them with menu plans and strategies to encourage children to try and accept new foods.

With two young children of her own, Anna relates easily to the practical issues that parents and carers face in encouraging children to eat a healthy diet.

Parent testimonial

‘Astonishingly, the differences in my son were noticeable almost from the first week.  He started to sleep better and no longer had terrible nightmares.  Now he is in the top groups in his class for literacy and numeracy.  I can’t thank Anna enough for what she has done for my little boy.’
