At Kids First, we have fantastic fun during the school holidays!

Kids First school holiday workshops offer a perfect alternative to vacation care for active, curious kids who enjoy trying new things.

Each holidays, we offer new and different programs for a wide range of ages and interests. Our past programs have included Beauty Workshops for Girls aged 10-14, Magic Workshops, Young Writer's Clubs, Art and Cartooning Workshops, NAPLAN preparation programs and our always popular Weird Science Workshops.

Socially Speaking..Socially Speaking - School holiday social skills and language workshops
Focused social language workshops

Some kids find it difficult to recognise the unspoken cues that social language involves and this impacts on their ability to meet, converse and make connections with others.

Socially Speaking is a focused social language program for children who need support so that they can communicate and socialise successfully.

Developed by Kids First’s experienced team of specialist Speech Pathologists, Socially Speaking - Beginners will be offered these school holidays as a small group program for 5 to 7 year olds who need to build communication skills and confidence

Socially Speaking - Beginners will promote the development of social language skills like:
            · Using eye contact
            · Appropriate greetings and farewells
            · Joining in to a group or game
            · Sharing  (and sharing the lead)
            · Taking the lead
            · Casual Conversation

Socially Speaking will give your child the benefit of more than seven hours of specialist therapy and the personal support of two social language professionals.

During the program, you will also benefit from one hour of education and resourcing when our therapists spend 20 minutes each day reviewing video footage of the day’s activities and providing you with ideas, information and strategies to equip your family with tools to take your child’s social language skills forward.

A maximum of 10 places are available in each 3-day workshop.

Intermediate and Advanced programs for children aged 8-10 will be offered next school holidays.

The cost of this intensive program is $450, which is less than half the cost of comparable individual therapy. As Socially Speaking is an eligible Speech Therapy service, you are welcome to utilise FaHCSIA funding, Medicare and health fund rebates.
